La Toretto hearing continues in La Plata

The key hearing against Felicitas Alvite, better known as La Toretto, accused of running over and killing motorcyclist Walter Armand in April 2024, resumed today at the La Plata Court. The hearing advanced to the trial stage, although it was confirmed that there will be another meeting. Today's hearing began after 9:00 AM at the Oral Court in Criminal Matters No. 2, where the parties again debated some technical issues and arguments. The first part of the hearing took place on October 13th, where there were discussions and even crying from the accused when she hugged her friend Valentina Velázquez, who is also going to trial for street racing. However, after an intense session, a recess was ordered for the parties to narrow down the list of witnesses they will present at the trial. At Tuesday's meeting, Flavio Gliemmo, La Toretto's lawyer, confirmed to the Argentine News agency that the list had been reduced. Even so, it was ordered that another preliminary hearing for the trial be held, which will take place in December, meaning the trial will not begin until next year. The young woman is under house arrest and is accused of simple homicide with eventual intent, a crime that carries sentences of 8 to 25 years in prison. On that fatal night, it was confirmed that La Toretto was driving at over 90 km/h and ran several red lights until, at the intersection of avenues 13 and 32, she struck Armand, causing him to be thrown into the air and die minutes later in the hospital.
